Its a long weekend - so Pazzar may well be out walking.
He also passed up a recent chance to post, so anyone should feel free to jump in with a new one.

Not a long weekend in Tassie, unfortunately. :(

Tasadam,
I reckon this might be one where you look at his recent peaks list - but perhaps not Gell & the Cheyne Range.

Yes, well, the description of its name certainly matches the image...

Not sure if Tasadam has got this one or if he's letting someelse have a go so...... :?

Are you standing on Stacey Lookout
It is easier to go down a hill than up, but the view is much better at the top.

I have a sneaking suspicion Stacey Lookout will be the last outcrop in the photo along the ridgeline.

I love the way he buries the key landmarks in deep cloud. No doubt he will have some paltry excuse about the weather...
I'm thinking the peak hidden on the right is the Thumbs

I think you might be right there Eggs.

Knowing that ILUVSWTAS is a peakbagger and that staceys lookout is only a mere 708m high, he would have to be standing on the highest point on the range which is just south of this, a point 770m high.

That would be my guess.

Ah I'm not out walking - and probably thankfully judging by current weather. My internet has been down for the last couple of days, so I didn't know that I got that one correct.

Well done guys! Sawback it is! A nice little range. Quite tough. It would be very very difficult to traverse the entire thing.

Hhmmm... Let me see.
I can see mining, and I can see forestry. Could be Tasmania. Is that a dam? That would confirm it.
OK, ok, I'm going for coffee.

This is really annoying me, I feel like I should know it but can't get it. Is it in the NE? And is it a relatively recent photo?

I thought it looked like west coast, but no success checking out the obvious places on Google Earth. Will kick myself when the answer is known!

A tough one.

First identifiable landmark was Eldon Bluff - wow - how often is that the case! It is a vague outline on the horizon.
Next was Mt Murchison behind the 3 humps - essentially identified by the small hump on the RHS of the main bulk.
This is confirmed by identifying Mt Read / Mt Dundas which is the RHS skyline.

That places us in the NW looking south.
The next problem was the 3 humped range in the middle distance - I believe it is Mt Ramsay

So I suspect this is from the top of Mt Cleveland looking down on the township of Luina.
Difficult because Google satellite of Luina does not really match - shape is right but features are different.
I suspect that will be due to a timing difference between the photos.

Great work Eggs it is Mt Cleveland, it looks like you win again.
This photo was taken about 28 years ago when people were actually living in Luina.
I thought that leaving that fact out might make this one a bit trickier....sorry

I wondered if that was the case, as my first thought was West Coast and Mt Murchison in the background (only a thought though), but couldn't work out which town it was as I thought I knew them all. That's why I asked about the NE as I don't know the towns quite so well, but couldn't find one that fitted! Very tricky! Well done eggs.

Thanks - don't apologise - that made it very interesting.
And it would explain the absence of township detail on the satellite view.

Next one - another old slide:

This is just a wild guess due to the sea in the background (at least I think it's sea). Mt Heemskirk?

Not Heemskirk, but you are in the right part of the state.
That is sea on the right - but in the form of a large harbour.

Why doesn't Google maps have mountain names on it? I don't have any maps with me so I'm a bit stuck unless it's Jukes. I don't think it's Darwin and I can't think of any others.

Sorry - I find it hard to get the Blackberry login to respond.

Jukes and Darwin are in the photo and it is not from Sedgewick.
The first ridge is part of the peak I am on.

No - not Gap Peak (I had to look that one up) - it is not in the Heemskirk/Agnew area.

It was a very bare mountain when this photo was taken - and well over 1000m high (although that will still be true :D )
