Conondale Great walk.

Postby craigs902 » Mon 24 Mar, 2025 12:29 pm

Hi all,

I'm trying to find out if anyone knows if tracks around the Conondale Great Walk are hike-able not just the Great Walk itself.

I'm hiking from Brisbane along the BVRT to Kenilworth for a 5-day hiking event via Kilcoy, then to Mt Kilcoy Road and Yandilla Farm Stay. Access to Conondale NP is just up the road, which connects to the Belthorpe/Jimna road and then what appears to be the South Goods management trail, which then finally connects up to the Great Walk and the first of my camps (Wondai walkers camp) along the track. I don't know that section and would like to know if anyone knows if the South Good Trail is a trail. With a name like South Goods Management Trail one would think it's a decent track, but you just never know. Any info you could share would be great. Attached is the GPX of my hike.

It's a (4x4) drivable management trail... usually. I do not know it's current condition.
Conondale will likely have a few trees down as a result of Alfred; https://parks.desi.qld.gov.au/park-alerts/25113

Their park management allows for off-track walking so I think you'll be fine; https://parks.desi.qld.gov.au/__data/as ... ondale.pdf
Though camping is more restricted... but if you're heading for the walkers camp, that shouldn't be an issue. When I do the GW I usually skip Wondai...

Thanks for the reply. As long as I know it’s a “4x4” or any track for that matter, I know I’ll be able to get through. Just wanted to make sure it was a track and not one of those ghost tracks that are sometimes on hiking apps.
