TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Rain jackets/ponchos and pit zips

How well do pit zips work for ventilation with your backpack straps - do the straps interfere? My thoughts are that the straps would either block the venting effect or damage the zips or both? Or am I overthinking this?

Where do you sweat?
Me .. arm pits is one of the areas... and venting there alone works well.

The pit zips on my Rab rain jacket are fantastic, and don't interfere with the pack straps at all.

I'll never buy a rain jacket without pit zips again. I'm even experimenting with a pit opening on my hiking shirt.

I agree, no interference with the pack straps (assuming you have your pack fitted correctly).
