Mt Cattley? I think that is conglomerate.

I think your right eggs i remember someone posting one from Griffiths Ridge.
It is easier to go down a hill than up, but the view is much better at the top.

Bell and Cattley are both conglomerate but Eggs has it. I'm on the western end of Loongana Range looking over Native Track Tier (hardly a tier at all) to Bald Hills (bumpy ones on the left and right), Loyetea Peak (pointy one in the middle) and, in the far distance, Mounts Riana, Duncan and Lorymer (barely visible as hazy outlines).

Beautiful photo Brian.
Possibly from somewhere on the Tyndal Range again?

No - I am after the name of the lake I had camped at - about 200m behind me when I took the photo.

Stu is in the ballpark

I will be interested if anyone can name some of the distant peaks

Wow. Great photo. I love Tassie!

Without consulting maps, I wonder if we have the Meredith and Norfolk ranges in the far distance and things like Mt Agnew and Dreadnought Hill in the mid-rage. However, looking that way from the Tyndalls, I would have expected the distinctive bump of Mt Dundas to be in there.

I'll have to do some map browsing at lunch...

Could you be looking just east of Frenchmans in the direction of Camp Hill, Last Hill, Raglan Range with Mt Gell and the King William Range on the left. I'm just wondering whether it's possible to get that view without seeing Eldon Bluff to the left or Frenchmans Cap to the right. It looks like there could be some water in the the pic, perhaps Lake Spicer. I'll make my guess Niche Lake and a lot of zoom.

Definitely the 3 peaks of King William and Mt Gell in view.
And - yes this is looking with some zoom between Eldon Bluff off to the left and Frenchman's Cap to the right.

But you cannot get this view from Niche Lake.
Since you have described the view pretty well - here is a wider version to assist

Hmmm... I guess you have now given me Mt Sedgewick and Frenchmans Cap to get my bearings. Does this mean you have your back to Lake Tyndall with Lakes Myra and Monica making an appearance?

This looks like an amazing range for walking. I still haven't been there. My first-hand knowledge is limited to the view from the Anthony Road. I haven't even been to Lake Margaret! The Tyndalls first came onto my radar in a Wilderness Society publication in the early 80s which highlighted areas which remained unprotected just outside the newly formed World Heritage Area.

You are correct tastrekker.
We had camped on the other side of Lake Tyndall.
I had got up at about 5am and took the camera - ended up covering about 3km in my sleeping thermals (by which time it was quite warm) circling around the lake and going out to the edge of the plateau.
There is nothing quite like the light changes at sunrise and sunset.

I would love to explore more of the Tyndalls - particularly out past the Nectar Lakes (which are embedded in the nearby ridges in the photo), out to the edge looking down over Lake Beatrice and the white of Marble Bluff and then up onto Sedgewick. This was my 3rd visit to the Tyndall-Geikie part of the range - but the first overnighter.

That one could be tricky. Could be just up the road from where I live, could be from the highway heading down into Devonport from the west... There's power lines in the foreground, so I reckon there's a fair bit of house / development etc in the immediate foreground... So could be from the Don hill on the highway. Fair bit of zoom...
Is the hill on the left Kelcey Tier?

Pretty sure he is not looking from the north - this will be from the east/north-east of Roland.

[Edit - wow - I got that sooo wrong!!!!]

tasadam is the closest so far but it's not Kelcey Tier on the left. It's actually Bonneys Tier. Does that pin point my location for anyone?

If tasadam's out of time, someone else may like to try and get closer than Don and Latrobe. I'm somewhere between those two. In fact, I'm looking out my office window.
