Flinders Island

Postby ollster » Fri 07 Jan, 2011 8:16 am

Spent the Xmas->NYE week on Flinders. Must say, it is a lovely place, with lovely people. Very quite and serene. There was so much serenity I could've taken a big bag of it home if I had some luggage space. Anyway... pics:

No editing or processing done at all, apart from scaling them for the site.

PS: I especially like the mushroom, as I think it looks like crispy bacon.

Great work, certainly looks like a nice spot to spend a few days exploring. Love the composition of the second on! Those macro shots have come out pretty nice too. Question is though, did it taste like crispy bacon :D

I was a tad disappointed by the composition, as I managed to cut off the bottom edge of the shadow from the fallen-over post. Oh well! I did consider licking the mushroom to see, but we had a 700+ metre descent to deal with. ;-)

Yeah it's only a very small amount missing though and doesn't really detract much, I know what you mean though, it's dissappointing when you miss something small like that by just a few cemtimitres, makes you remember for next time though! Could have been an interesting decent if it turned out to be a magic mushroom then

Great pics Ollster!! I especially love no. 2, no. 9 and the last one. I was only discussing Flinders Island with matt_22the other day. I haven't been there since I was a kid.....Maybe it's time to return for another visit. Even as a kid, I realised the beauty of the Island.....
Cheers

Beautiful shots. Love the eighth, something about the grass. Glad you got someone in the ninth, I was surprised when I saw her as it gave the rock a sudden enormity. The posts look like arms coming out of the sand and all pointing... Julie.
We'll get fit on the way.

That rock looks like a man made steel structure with a big ding in the side.

beautiful images of a great place. Thanks. The LX3 does a great job.
I love that oversized molar and the little lady at the base.

Flinders Island is one of Tasy's best kept secrets and not to be missed.
Brings back many memories.
