A highly valued energy food of the American Indians, one spoonful of the seed was used to sustain an Indian on the move for 24hrs, with nothing else but water.

I have started to grow this wonderful herb and hope to give some feedback on how well it works on the trail. Has anyone tried the seeds?
Some walk in the rain..others just get wet.

Hey Bluey. I've read the claims as well. Hoping to get supplies of the seeds to trial too. I've had chia seed in bread rolls, but didn't notice any discernible difference.... Regards, Charlie.

I have been eating a teaspoon a day of the seed for 2 months now. At first i didn't notice a thing, but during my first big exercise stint whilst taking them. i noticed that i could just keep going.The muscles never cramped either, I think the claimed statements on this plant are leaning towards TRUE, so far.. but i am yet to try them on a decent walk, will post any further results or readings.
Some walk in the rain..others just get wet.

How have you been consuming them ? Just a spoonful down the gullet ? Or have you added them to a particular recipe ? Thanks, CV

Nice BlueyAu - herbs are a wonderful(and potent) thing, hope you keep the trial up as most herbs take at least 3 months to take effect.

I mainly drink mine in tea, the most common I use are peppermint,nettle, chamomile, eyebright, horsetail, hawthorn and lemongrass all for diferent reasons and in different dosages.
Will be very interested in your conclusions. Nature does indeed hold most of the answers, we just choose to believe companies that spend our $$$ :roll:

Thanks Cv, I have just been munching them but find they get stuck, now i wash them down with a cuppa, seems to work ok. :) as the weather cools i think i'll just throw them on my hot weetbix. they are small seeds, bout the size of sesame seed, so they would work with anything. not much flavour, sort of a mild stale nut taste? i was thinking of trying them in a whey protein/sustagen shake.
The more i read about this, the more impressive it becomes, It has the most Omega 3 of any known plant, high in protein(20g per 100g), and is high in fibre.

I have since realized i should be eating a Tablespoon a day, I was eating only a teaspoon. :roll: Energy has increased since i started eating it so am looking forward to eating more of it.

Cheers stepbystep, I have heard that nettle has some great qualities also.. Helps with lots of nasties in the bush, I have been looking for a place to find it in the wild, but haven't come across it yet. Didn't know i could get a Tea with it though :D

try soaking them in milk overnight, it softens them right up and you can then stick them in just about anything and they go down great! i stick them in my shake for breakfast and i rarely get any in my teeth ;)

indian running food, its all that it claims, been taking the stuff every morning for the last 6 months, best in your cereal gives you energy all day also great for weight loss as you tend to feel full well after the lunch hour. level table spoon is all you need for the daily intake. Can also be added to the making of cookies or slices for home made snacks for the tracks. Dont over dose on the stuff as it DOES get you "going" its all that fibre thats in them. For me leg cramps are in the past, dont get them any more, wish I got onto the stuff earlier. :-)
