Road Trippin' on the West Side!

Postby Phil » Wed 03 Aug, 2011 11:23 am

I had the pleasure of travelling to the West Coast for work these past couple of days.

I headed off from Launceston on Sunday arvo and spent the night at Tullah; had a Monday morning meeting in Rosebery before doing a small back peddle so that I could drive down 'Anthony Main Rd' towards Queenstown (what a drive!!). Then headed from Queenstown to Strahan in the arvo.

Tuesday morning had a quick wander up to Hogarth Falls and then a short drive out to the coast before heading up to Zeehan for another meeting. Finished that one by 11:30 (which meant I was done with work :D ) so decided to do the full loop back to Launceston via Queenstown, the Lyell Hwy, Derwent Bridge, then up the Marlborough Hwy past the Great Lakes and then home.

It has to be the most wonderful driving in our state, surely?!?!?!

Here's a few pics taken with the iPhone...........

Nice pics Phil, thanks for sharing :D
A few of us are going to do Mt Owen this Saturday (a leisurely day out) - did you just dodge the gate & walk the road?
I was told off last time I attempted it, tho I think they were doing remedial work on the towers on that particular occassion.
Cheers.

Yeah, I actually parked up near the gate (probably should have left the car at the bottom!!) and then wandered up the road. Thee's something very frustrating about walking all that way up a road and knowing that someone could just drive past at any stage!!
