(FS/TAS) Panasonic LX5

Once an item is sold, found or thread is no longer needed we move it here. These maybe helpful for historic reasons.

(FS/TAS) Panasonic LX5

Postby Nuts » Sun 21 Aug, 2011 9:09 pm

I couldn't decide in the reading, it was too difficult, so I bought both a p7000 and LX5 with the idea to handle them and check a few things in print. I don't need two similar cameras so something must give. Sorry LX5, its you :( (and your (also new) spare battery).

Wandered around and took a few snaps, otherwise it is New (or was last week...) (Ignore the few dust specs in the pic i now notice sitting on the body).

Offers? (pm (or here) ok but might not be able to immediately answer):

I am in the market for a compact camera, but I think I have my heart set on a canon s95. No idea what you paid for it, but if I could pick up a bargain I may be swayed :)

In my opinion (having seen lots of the results of both the S90/95 and the LX5) the LX5 is a much better camera. If you're after compactness the S95 is unbeatable, but the LX5 takes better pictures and is more versatile. Oh and on battery life - chalk and cheese!

Course my XZ-1 is better than both  (okay maybe not better than the LX5, but about equal to it overall )

I'm the sort that likes to hold, touch, use things. For three days I read the *&%$#! off every review on cameras in this class. This is another subject where there is just such a contrast between the opinions of the Real armchair experts and the doing. So much I read was similar to what occasionally crops up on this site from people defending purchase decisions or muddled priorities with theoretical answers that (in a practical sense) mean Jack *&%$#!.. grasping at anything to prove a point, not accounting to facts offered along the way..

Anyhow...

I bought this and the p7000. While the reviews were right about the LX5 being a nice camera, in contrast they were wrong (or more appropriately, just 'not right') about the p7000..
Iv'e chosen the p7000 from these two (it has a few more options that I personally prefer) I have No insight into the Oly or Canon (though, yes, I read those reviews also..)

(i may be offline for a few days, I'll set a price for now, till then)

$280 delivered, doogs has the floor

Hi

The only reason I will not be buying the LX% for $280 with spare battery is I already have one  But that is a very fair price for a great camera. I have the Canon S90 which is near enough in capability to the newer S95 and love its compactness but LX5 is a better camera. Like the Olympus and the choice between it and a LX5 is based on what you want the most from a compact. Must admit discounted the Nikon having seen it in the flesh and read the reviews but not used it in the real world. Bit the same with the Canon G11. But for $280 I wonder if Nuts stole the LX5

Cheers

If doogs doesn't want it, I'll take it.
