For an opening bid I'll say somewhere in the Dolomites, if I had access to Google Earth I would go hunting for those tarns.... (anyone?).

Neither spot is correct - but Cameron is not far off
The tarns are named - but the darker black sloped wall at back left is a clue - its not dirt...
The granite skyline should indicate the general area.

"High on a hill lived a lonely goatherd
Lay ee odilay ee odl lay hee hoo"

This could well be his hut, can't see any reason why not, I think there is a prince on a bridge on a castle moat down there in the valley, you need to squint a bit to see him properly. Just saying :)

Apologies for vanishing after posting a photo recently.
I went on-service in the hospital here the day I posted that and in the ensuing chaos of that week forgot to reply.
No trolling intended.

Well Commando, we have been stuck on top of the Alps for eleven days now on this International Where is it "cliff-hanger" (pun intended), maybe you could throw down a clue or two to help us climb out. So in the meantime I reckon it could be the little wooden hut thingie just near the top of the Bossoms chair lift, theres bound to be one. Or not.

Probably - looks like it gets plenty of traffic.
This one at about 5100m would not be as well known.

Yes, you were kind. I haven't been there but it wasn't too hard to work out.

Let's try another mountain. Canada:
